Experimental Films

This project was shortlisted for ISTD 2021 competition. The brief asked us to explore the Silent era of films which was from the mid 1890’s to the late 1920’s.  I focused on the pioneers of ‘experimental film’, Walter Ruttman, Hans Richter, Viking Eggeling and Oskar Fischinger.

 

I produced a publication designed to introduce the audience to the avant-garde work of the artists. The experimental format reflects the expressive styles of the content. It includes a series of visual responses inspired by their films and artwork.
